What We Lost Along the Way

15:45 minutes | 2024

What We Lost Along the Way is a poignant short documentary that follows three close friends from the inner city as they venture to the breathtaking Oregon coast in search of peace, connection, and a sense of belonging in nature. Through their eyes, we experience the beauty and tranquility of the coastal landscape, challenging the stereotypical notion that the great outdoors is not a space for Black people. The film captures intimate moments of reflection, joy, and camaraderie as they hike through lush forests, roar through endless dunes, bare witness to the oceans raw power, and share ideas around a fire. This documentary not only highlights the healing power of nature but also addresses the broader issue of access and representation in outdoor spaces. By showcasing their brotherly journey, What We Lost Along the Way aims to inspire viewers to rethink their perceptions of who belongs in nature and to encourage more inclusive and diverse experiences in the natural world. With stunning visuals and heartfelt narratives, What We Lost Along the Way is a celebration of friendship, resilience, and the universal human desire to find peace and connection in the world around us.

This is a memorial for an ancient glacier that will fade out of existence in this generation. Emerson and Cedar, a five and three year-old pair of brothers who live on a sailboat, share what they have learned about this vanishing glacier in Olympic National Park. This short film is ancillary to the main effort, which is to ensure the glacier lives on in the heart of the next generation while fostering a deep connection to nature.

THE INVISIBLE ENEMY

14:17 minutes | 2025

During tours of duty in Nevada, enlisted men and women were repeatedly exposed to lethal radiation at the world's largest nuclear test site. But because exercises were “top-secret,” the U.S. government continues to conceal official records of their ever having served there. Now cancer-stricken and ineligible for benefits because of their classified designation, veterans are mobilizing to prove they served and to secure basic healthcare for themselves and their families.

What's a Trifecta?

10:49 minutes | 2025

The fourth year of the annual Snow, Skate, Surf event is the largest all adult trifecta in the world! In a single day, the 130 participants began on Mt. Hood, ripping the July snow at Timberline Ski Resort. The group then traveled 3.5 hours away to the Pacific City Skate park to shred the newly completed park, funded by the Cape Kiwanda Longboard Surf Classic, before hopping across the street and catching waves in the last light of the day. There was a campout, awards ceremony, and dance party afterward.

This one day event has been told through the lens of the 3 previous year's films. Film maker Alden Reed knew there was a deeper story to be told than the pattern and delivery of the previous years' films. Our documentary-style film touches on issues of equity and accessibility of these sports, inclusivity, and how truly lucky we are to have all these things within a single day's drive in the Pacific Northwest.
